JEAN JOACHIM (Contemporary Romance)
“A shirt. Stan he needs a dress shirt. Can’t tell about the fit with a t-shirt on.”
Jake brushed the sand off her windbreaker. She stared back at the intensity of his solemn blue gaze. What could he have to say that would rock her world?
Alexandra waited until after they had their coffee and dessert before she asked Billy the questions which kept going through her mind while she sat tied to the wooden chair in the café.
As fast as the storm exploded upon them, it moved away, taking the leaden rain-filled clouds with it.
The blue of the ocean filtered through the cities translucent walls.
Nicky was on her way back to Dublin. With her daughters, Aimee and Lilly, in Los Angles to spend the New Year with their dad, she didn’t look forward to going back to an empty apartment.
Once word got out Kibwe wasn’t the go to person once diamonds were smuggled in, as Jessica had predicted, the power struggle started. Each entrant promising more and better returns on the goods they handled.
Morning sun streamed in thru the glass terrace door, and the fierce Maui waves crashed against the shore waking Claire up. She was in a strange room and had to catch her bearings.
"Sky Blue"
Katie lifted her skirts as she dashed toward Everett Brown, the Latin Master and her love.  He approached up the front walk of the Pythian House, a grin on his face and when she reached him, he flung his arms open wide.  She walked into them and he lifted her into his arms.
"Summer's Desire"
Kisses are always needed,” he whispered in her ear.
Summer elbowed him in his stomach.

Salamanca – July 22nd 1812
“We’ve endured some bad storms, have we not Dev, but I misremember one as bad as this.”
My Lady Beaumont snuggled up to her lord, her head on his shoulder.
 KAREN CINO (Contemporary Romance)

Billy and Gallo pulled up in front of the café.  Alexandra’s car sat directly in front, meaning she was inside. The café was dark except for a tiny light in the back, close to where the food pantry would be.

LINDSAY DOWNS (Sensual Suspense)
As predicted the lighter flared as a, with what sounded like a puff of air from pursed lips, bullet exited the silenced barrel of a 22 caliber Colt Woodsman. Jessica allowed herself to mentally pat John, the team armorer, on the back for the ingenious reworking of the powder load in the round.
The ship blasted through the atmosphere, Paul held on tight, the
rattling of the frame unnerved him.
"A New Life Dawns"
Judging by everything she had experienced, Everett Brown seemed as smitten as she.  Their stolen kisses, the sweet moments sneaked from the daily routine meant everything to Katie Lafferty.
KATHLEEN TIGHE BALL (Modern Cowboy Romance)
"Summer's Desire"
She would have expected him to sleep with his wife but to lie about it made her realize that she really didn’t know Stone. In fact, she was leery of all men.
CAROLYN GIBBS (Romantic Suspense)
After an hour of talking about the book they wrote together and doing a sequel, Claire finally looked at her cell phone for the time. “Wow, it’s almost 2 AM. I’m going to bed before we see the dawn rising up.

Hello and welcome! This week we are all writing to a picture prompt. This truck is the picture. Click on the name of the writer to go to their blog to read their story. Thank you for coming!

JEAN JOACHIM (Contemporary Romance)
"The Magic of Love"
“Don’t drop that!”
Kincade Ransom guarded his magic trunk jealously.
DAWNE PROCHILO (Historic Western Romance)
Cody resolved to climbing into his empty bed, all the while thinking of Lydia sleeping a mere ten-feet from him; his bedroom, adjacent to where Lydia slumbered in Bethany’s old room.
SHERRY GLOAG (General Fiction)
A single beam of sunlight from the attic window shone on the chest.  She’d thought it was a legend. Not real, and yet there it sat right in front of her in the middle of the attic room.
Pia pulled the old wooden chest out from the storage area under the cellar steps.  She dragged the old treasure chest into the middle of the room, knelt down and pushed the heavy top up.
CATHY GREENFEDER (YA, Paranormal Romance)
“Blackbeard’s treasure?” Jake asked. They stepped past a brass trimmed mahogany chest. "His pirates buried their booty in trenches along the Jersey shore."
What’s in a trunk?  The Marx Brothers hiding on a ship?
As Katie waited, she considered climbing out of the window but it wouldn’t be very ladylike and would be certain to draw more trouble.  So she folded her hands in her lap and stared at her trunk, brown and sturdy.
LINDSAY DOWNS (Sensual Suspense)
With an icy coolness, from years of training, through night vision binoculars Jessica scanned the darkened windows of the chateau. All she had to go on was a description of one item in the room where their friends were being held hostage.
Crillly was happy with his human existence for the most part. He enjoyed the life of a musician. Music was the universal language after all.
"The Trunk"
May wadded another tissue and tucked in her jeans pocket. What a day. What a long six months. The attic was the only place she could go and have a good cry.
"I’m the oldest twelve year old you will ever meet. I suppose you could attribute it to the fact I have two older brothers, and my family friends have usually been older than me."
“No, no, noooo” my grandfather had warned me so many times as a young child.  “Do not open Grand papa’s chest.  It holds the treasure closet to my heart.”
Knock Knock, came the hollow sound from within the trunk.
Watching the policeman in her rear view mirror, Rosie clicked the button to release the central locking and got out the car.
“Surprised you got here at all,” he said softly, kicking her flat tyre.

JEAN JOACHIM (Military Romance)
"Too Late for Goodbye"
“I want him back.”
“You heard me. I want him back. I only gave him to you…temporarily. A loaner,” Ariel Bowers laughed at her own joke.
DAVEE JONES (Romantic Suspense)
"Joelle padded to the bathroom and found the ibuprofen and Sudafed.  All she needed now was the caffeine chaser she swore by to wash down her headache relief."
I’m just looking at the ocean, acting a bit lost.  I am wondering what is on the other side, imagining Europe across the way.
IRIS BLOBEL (Contemporary Romance)
Nicky watched Rose walk back to the house. She felt torn apart inside.
KALLYSTEN (Paranormal Romance)
The waves crashed down against the rocks, a relentless rhythm like the heartbeat of the ocean. Under Leo’s hand, Brett’s heart echoed that beat, even and regular in sleep.
LINDSAY DOWNS(Sensual Suspense)
“Martina,” Jessica started to say as she exited the elevator. She turned back to her friend. “Twenty minutes in the lobby.
"Ocean Drive"
As Rosie drove over the hill and caught her first sight of the sea, The Lighthouse Family’s ‘Ocean Drive’ was playing on the radio. ‘It’s a sign,” she said to Bertie, her tabby, now meowing from his carrier on the passenger seat of her Suzuki Swift.
KATHLEEN TIGHE BALL (Contemporary Cowboy Romance)
"Summer's Desire"
Stone turned again, facing the window. Nothing seemed to help. He wished he could just scoop Rachael up and put her in her own bed. He sighed. That wasn’t going to happen.
The lap of the ocean waves against the shoreline, the caw of the gulls, and the sand swishing between her bare toes provided some relief. Today, however, with so many unresolved questions, she felt on edge.
CAROLYN GIBBS (Romantic Suspense)
The five of them walked out of the elevator and onto the fifth floor of the hotel. When they reached room 511, Lacy turned to Sam and Claire, and handed Sam the card key. “Here’s your room.”
Paul and Silf were guided to a large hanger with some small bullet
shaped ships. Pratov pointed to one of them.

JEAN JOACHIM (Military Romance)
“Get out of the car.”
        “What’d I say?”
        “Get out.”
“Look, Perri, the kid’s been gone for five years already. When are you gonna let go?”
Cody had never been one to go without women's attention, but he wanted nothing from the ladies of Willow Creek.
For a little while they sat there and enjoyed the gentle breeze of the sea. The water lapped   against the rocks further out near the old castle, and the salty air filled Nicky’s lungs.
I may not be rich, but have food and a roof over my head.  What is money, but a way to get things?
KAREN CINO (Contemporary Romance)
Alexandra fumbled with her key.  The street light in front of the café blew out and the bulb in the old fashioned pole in front of the café was also off.  She had expected Billy to there already. But that was Billy, always full of surprises.

The Primier sat at one end of the conference table while Ishmael was directly across from him. The table had computer screens built in them where placemats would be and the Premier was reading its contents. As Ishmael patiently waited for him to finish, Sabrina and Henry stood in the far corner near the window observing.

"Root of All Evil"
Thelma was your root of all evil, not money, although being poor most of the time didn’t help. She’d wanted a new car and blamed you for not being able to afford one.
Silf, fingered the laser that hung at the side of her waist.
The tall alien moved forward and grabbed her hand, Silf did not resist.
KATHLEEN TIGHE BALL (Modern Cowboy Romance)
"Summer's Desire"
She had no choice but to wrap her arms around him. “Why didn’t you just call?”Stone stopped and looked at her. “She was crying hysterically and I didn’t even think.
 CAROLYN GIBBS (Romantic Suspense)
At dinner Dan strategically positioned himself next to Lacy, but across from Nancy, so he could keep an eye on her. He appeared calm, but inside racked his brain about that morning on the little island.
KALLYSTEN (Paranormal Romance)
Most days, Virginia enjoyed going to work. There was nothing thrilling about long sheets of numbers, rows and columns matching just so, with a few phone calls and emails going out when they happened not to match the way they were supposed to, but she didn’t need thrills at work; she had enough of those at home.
LEE ANN SONTHEIMER MURPHY (Sweet Historical Romance)
"The Root of All Evil"
Their outing ended much too soon.  After a delicious lunch – roast chicken with dressing and last summer’s green peas – in a busy restaurant – Katie hated to even think of returning to the Pythian House.
LINDSAY DOWNS (Sensual Suspense)

From his seat Jacques Demond watched as the terminal grew closer. Every four months for the past eight years he’d made this same trip, but today would be his last.
SHERRY GLOAG (Romantic suspense)

When Vidal tried to press money into the man’s hand he stepped back, his hands behind his back. “Phillipe does not tell us all, but whatever he decides we all support him.”
